Digicel scores with cricketers

Digicel is scoring high with cricket and football fans across the region as popularity for its mobile content services increases amongst its customers.

The company predicts an overall growing market for mobile content in the region as penetration of cutting-edge handsets continues to increase among its customers noting that sports content is a key common area fuelling growth across its network of 20 operations, states a press release.

More and more sports-loving Digicel customers are swiftly beginning to interact with sports content on their mobile phones. A key factor in the adoption is Digicel’s ability to roll out state of the art GSM infrastructure from partners such as Ericsson and handset manufacturer Sony Ericsson that can support customers growing demand for mobile content.

In countries such as Haiti where football is the passion of the nation, the company has been running a first of its kind text based football competition which has been popularly received by its growing customer base. Digicel launched in Haiti on May 3, 2006 and is title sponsor of the Haitian Football Federation. The company is the largest official sponsor of all time of the National League and one of the largest ever official sponsors of the Haiti Nation Football team.
