Cayman National supports youth workshop

Cayman National joined with the National Youth Commission and the Department of Youth and Sports to coordinate a Youth Career Workshop for students aged 16 to 18.

The workshop Career Shop Advanced was designed and delivered by Innovative Management & Training Professional Training, states a press release.

According to the NYC based upon their findings of similar workshops, which were held last year, less than 20 per cent of the youth who attended stated they had received no formal career guidance; therefore they were committed to hold career workshops as an annual event until the need no longer exists.

The workshop provided the opportunity for the young people to participate in practical job preparation sessions such as office skills, business etiquette, time management, and dealing with customers, and managing interpersonal relationships, and allowed the teens to work with qualified trainers.

As a major sponsor Cayman National organized the certificate ceremony, which was held at the Brasserie Conference Centre and invited guests included parents of the youth, representatives from the National Youth Commission, the Ministry of Education and of the Department of Youth and Sports, together with representatives from Cayman National’s Human Resource Department and other members of their senior management team.

‘Your success in this world is determined by the decisions you make and commitment you have today,’ said Mr. Ormond Williams, Cayman National Bank’s president. ‘They serve to prepare you to seize the opportunities tomorrow.”

Students were then provided with information about career opportunities offered by the Cayman National Group.

Mrs. Jenny Manderson, chairman of the NYC presented the students with certificates, and Mrs. Angela Martins, chief officer of the Ministry of Education, also made remarks.

Mrs. Claudia Welds, of Cayman National Corporate Communications Department commented that Cayman National is committed to developing talented young people who can look forward to rewarding career opportunities.

‘An opportunity to participate in this training initiative embodies the core values of Cayman National as a leading financial institution, and it was indeed a pleasure working with the NYC’s Policy Coordinator Mrs. Clara Smith to make this event a reality, and congratulate her on her efforts,’ she said.
