Tee up for prizes

Golfers of varying expertise will tee off at the Britannia Golf Club on Sunday, 5 November this year in the annual Taste of Cayman Golf Classic.

Organised by the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA), the four-man scramble with a shot-gun start and two tee-off times, promises to be a challenging yet entertaining day, says a press release from the CITA.

Players will compete to win a car from GT Automotive with a hole-in-one, there’s a gold coin for ‘closest to the pin’ sponsored by Island Companies, a longest drive by a female and another for a male, as well as hotel stays, meals and much more.

The most sought after spot prizes are two trips for four, sponsored by Cayman Airways and Spirit Airways which include accommodation by the Marriott at Doral and The Hyatt Regency at Coconut Point, FL.

Numerous other spot prizes, such as a two-night stay at Southern Cross Club on Little Cayman, will be drawn at the conclusion of the all day event. In addition to the spot prizes, there are prizes for the three top scoring teams, including trophies and a variety of gift certificates from CITA members and a consolation prize for the worst scoring team.

‘Players don’t need to fret if their swing is not up to par because even if they are not a good golfer, a lot of fun will be had and there is a good chance they will walk away with some great prizes,’ the release says.

Tee-off times are 8am and 1pm and the event is followed by a BBQ sponsored by Buck Head Beef and Cayman Imports.

Entry fee is CI$125 per person which includes green fees and cart, chances to win the holes in one, complimentary drinks and the BBQ.

Proceeds of the Golf Tournament benefit the Lighthouse School and the CITA.
