RCIPS officers hurt in crash

Two Cayman Islands police officers and a civilian were hospitalized last week after a two car crash on West Bay Road.

Royal Cayman Islands Police Traffic Division Chief Inspector Courtney Myles said a squad car and a Nissan collided at around 11.49pm Wednesday on Powell Smith Drive.

Inspector Myles said one male police officer was hospitalized with a broken jaw after the wreck, and a female officer was treated and released from hospital with neck and shoulder injuries.

The driver of the Nissan suffered some fractured ribs, according to Myles.

None of the injuries are life-threatening.

RCIPS was still investigating the crash Thursday, and couldn’t state who was at fault or whether the officers were responding to an emergency call when the accident occurred.
