The Hash House Harriers have announced that the running of the 33rd Cross Island Relay will take place on Sunday, 4th February,. This is one of the longest established sporting events in the Cayman Islands and runners of all abilities are encouraged to get together and form teams. The emphasis as always is on having a fun time.
The format of the run is a six person relay run with each leg being 4 miles. The race starts in East End and finishes (work permitting) at the Truman Bodden Sports Centre. The 6 legs are:
East End to the Blow Holes
Blow Holes to the Frank Sound Junction
Frank Sound Junction to the old Drive In Theatre at Bodden Town
Bodden Town to Savannah Acres
Savannah Acres to the Old Crew Road / South Sound Junction
South Sound Junction to the Truman Bodden Sports Centre,
There will be water stops half way along each leg. All competitors will receive a race T shirt. The entry fee is CI$ 75 per team. Last year over 20 teams took part and we would like to try for 25 teams in 2007. All sporting clubs, government departments and offices are encouraged to put a team together. Part of the fun is standing by the roadside to cheer your runner as he/she makes the lonely road to the finish of the leg. For more info, call Philip Sutcliffe on 815 8012.
