At the end of their stay with us in Cayman over Christmas, my parents had arrived at Owen Roberts Airport on 26 December to travel back to the UK. The long trans-Atlantic flight is always daunting for my parents in their sixties and seventies and the departure from us, with no grandchildren in the UK, always emotionally draining.
The flight was also carrying the John Gray High School Steel Band to London, and my parents flight was made much more enjoyable and a truly wonderful experience by being in the company of these talented, well behaved and good mannered young people.
My parents thus urged me to write to the Compass to say a word of appreciation to the group. Congratulations and many thanks to the band, its members’ parents and teachers.
