Four schools competed – St Ignatius Catholic School, Cayman Prep and High School, Cayman International School and Grace Christian Academy – in three classes of sailboats, Bytes, Picos and Optimists.
St Ignatius, last year’s RBC winner, triumphed in the Byte class while Cayman Prep won the Optimist and Pico classes.
The races came after two months of intensive training during January and February for the sailors.
‘It was a great morning of close racing,’ said CISC Sailing Director Michael Weber. ‘The sailors showed a tremendous amount of improvement from training over the last two months. It will be a very competitive circuit and exciting to watch.’
Mr Weber added: ‘I am delighted that RBC has sponsored this and allowed sailing to become part of school sports.’
The RBC School Sailing Circuit will run every Saturday morning in March. Points will be awarded on each race and the team with the highest score at the end of the circuit will win. For more information on the event, visit www.schoolsailing.ky.
