A small section of land on Poinciana Lane was swept by an RCIPS K9 drugs dog prior to the clearing work taking place. The move came after officers and residents noticed that the land was being used for illegal activities.

A thorough search of the area was carried out by PC Joel Ebanks and K9 Razah, a five-year-old German shepherd, trained in the art of locating illegal substances.

‘We didn’t find a huge amount of drugs on the land,’ said Neighbourhood Policing Officer PC Paul Anglin. ‘But we did find a utensil used for smoking drugs and also some ganja seeds, which shows our assessment of the area was correct.’

Following the search local resident and businessman Mr. Rollin Ebanks Jr. helped clear the land using his Caterpillar digger and broke down the overgrown and littered area so that criminals cannot hide in the bush any more.

‘Our thanks go out to Mr. Ebanks who offered his time and equipment free of change and helped us to make the area more pleasant.’

West Bay MLA Mr. Rolston Anglin was present for the clearing as well as land owner Mr. Randolph Nicholson.

Anyone wanting to speak with PC Anglin about policing in West Bay can call him on 916-4938.
