She had just flown in with three friends from the US to spend a week on the live-aboard dive vessel in order to explore the walls and ship wrecks of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.
The taxi driver commented on the balloons decorating the dive yacht, which was stationed at the North Terminal in George Town, and was to be Ms Kingston’s home for the next week.
But eight minutes into her boarding of the vessel, and Ms Kingston realised what was happening. There was a celebration taking place – a celebration of her being the 100,000th passenger on board the live-aboard dive fleet of Aggressors.
‘I was very much taken aback,’ the smiling lady said of the news that she had won a very special prize.
Owners of the fleet Wayne Hasson and Wayne Brown were on board and approached Ms Kingston, breaking the good news, that she had won a future free dive trip on the Aggressor of her choice and a complete set of Scubapro dive equipment – a prize package worth over $6,000.
The Aggressor Fleet was started in 1984 in Grand Cayman with the original Cayman Aggressor. Today, Aggressor Fleet yachts span the globe with 13 dive yachts in 11 different countries and the list of exotic destinations keeps growing.
Mr. Brown is quick to point out that the Aggressor is the largest fleet of live-aboards in the world. ‘No-one else comes close to it,’ he said.
Also on board the dive yacht was famed wildlife artist and marine biologist Guy Harvey, who presented Ms Kingston with one of his works of art as part of her prize.
Mr. Harvey, who has done film shoots on board Aggressors in the Galapagos Islands, Cocos Islands, Grand Cayman and Turks and Caicos, and taken his children with him, said it is a testament to the fleet’s perseverance, persistence, quality of service and complete hospitality package that they are celebrating their 100,000th customer.
‘It’s the best live-aboard dive operation on the planet, without a shadow of a doubt,’ he said.
