Today’s Editorial July 06: Superstitious? Saturday’s your lucky day

Luck is in the stars tomorrow.

It’s the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year – 777.

Seven is considered a lucky number the world over, so when you’ve got three in a row, it’s a pretty good bet you’re luck will triple.

Seven is a very important day.

God rested on the seventh day after creating the world and Noah had seven days to gather the animals into the ark.

Seven priests with seven trumpets were to encompass the walls of Jericho for seven days and on the seventh day, Jericho fell.

There are seven days in a week.

There were seven wonders of the ancient world.

There are seven deadly sins and seven colours in a rainbow.

There are seven wonders of the sea and seven continents.

In Las Vegas a triple seven means a jackpot.

And many couples are betting on that luck tomorrow.

Throughout the world couples will tie the knot Saturday, many at 7am or 7pm, adding another seven to the mix.

It’s happening in the Cayman Islands, too. In fact so many couples want to get married tomorrow that marriage officers and preachers are having to turn them down.

One couple is taking the seven thing a step further by getting married at 7.07pm.

Still other couples are looking to Seven Mile Beach to increase their luck at staying hitched even more.

On Saturday it’s all about the number seven.

Remember the doomsayers of June 6 last year? Many throughout the world predicted that day would bring gloom and doom. After all, 666 is the mark of the beast.

So we can expect great things Saturday. At least millions of brides and grooms do.

As we wait and see what Saturday brings start thinking about August 8 next year.

It will be all about Crazy 8s.
