A fact-finding group from the Ministry of District Administration, Planning, Agriculture and Housing travelled to Belize on 28 May to 1 June.
According to a ministry press release, the delegation met with government aquaculture and fisheries representatives touring several farms, on land and sea.
Travelling from the Ministry was Permanent Secretary, Kearney Gomez; Chief Veterinary and Agricultural Officer, Dr Alfred Benjamin; Department of Agriculture’s Assistant Director, Adrian Estwick; DoA Veterinarian, Dr. Kanyuira G. Gikonyo; Department of the Environment Research Officer, Gene Parsons, and Communications Manager, Angelique Crowther.
During the five-day Central American visit the team met with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, Belize Fisheries Department and BAHA – Belize Agricultural Health Authority. The team also made a courtesy call to the country’s Prime Minister, Said Musa, who welcomed the group to Belize.
