A 76-year old man died Thursday after falling through the ceiling of his home and hitting his head.
He was identified as Constantinos Papadopoulos, a Greek national who had lived in Cayman since the early 1980s.
Workmen at the property at Prince Charles Quay in Governor’s Harbour reported the accident around 8.30am. Paramedics rushed the elderly victim to hospital but he did not survive.
The death appeared to be an accident. It’s believed the man went up into his attic to check on workmen who were carrying out installations there.
Investigators said the elderly homeowner lost his footing and fell through the sheetrock in the attic. His momentum then carried him through the ceiling and down into the living area of the home.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Criminal Investigations Department is looking into the incident.
