The Money Express Division 1 Knockout Final is finally on after weeks of delay because of rain and fixture clashes. The battle between the two leading teams this season promises to be the spectacle it deserves.
Will last year’s champions Prison retain the knockout supremacy or Police become double champions having already won the league?
Police have had things their own way all season. On the back of excellent performances from champion batsman Pearson Best, leading all rounder and captain Ryan Bovell and new batting wonder boy Ramon Sealy, Police lost only once in clinching the Money Express Division 1 League championships. However, Prison had an up and down season with only a few glimpses of their true ability. Led by captain Troy David and potential Stanford 20/20 players Saheed Mohamed, Steve Gordon and Kevin Bazil, Prison secured the second position in the league. Police will also have to deal with the sizzling pace of the Ebanks brothers Ronald and Kervin.
So who will be popping the champagne corks come 6.30 on Sunday? The action begins at 11am at the Smith Road Oval. Weather permitting, it should have all the twists and turns befitting a game of this magnitude.
Rain ruined what was turning out to be an excellent encounter in the Money Express Division 2 Knockout semi-final between Caledonian and Cable & Wireless Schools last Saturday. C&W Schools limited the normally free scoring Caledonian batsmen to 89 for 9 wickets and in reply were 15 for 2 wickets before the showers came. Match is scheduled to be replayed tomorrow at Smith Road Oval beginning at 12 noon.
