Walkers has launched an in-house Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Programme, providing employees with an opportunity to obtain the ICSA Certificate in Offshore Finance and Administration.
The Walkers’ sponsored ICSA programme is the first of its kind in Cayman and several places have been offered to other local businesses.
Over 20 staff from Walkers SPV Limited, the firm’s corporate and SPV services provider, and several Walkers staff signed up to attend evening classes twice a week. Walkers will be running the programme on an ongoing basis with classes commencing in March and September. The classes are held at Walkers’ offices and delivered by Innovative and Professional Management Training, a local tuition provider.
The ICSA Certificate in Offshore Finance and Administration takes a year to complete and provides a unique and highly relevant training opportunity specifically for those employed in the offshore finance sector. It aims to provide a broad perspective of the industry, whilst promoting a high degree of operational knowledge covering legal, regulatory and financial frameworks. The qualification is established, regulated and controlled by ICSA, an internationally recognised Chartered Professional Body.
Wayne Panton, Deputy Global Managing Partner commented “We are pleased to launch an in-house ICSA programme. The initiative has been developed by WSPV’s senior management to provide our staff with the opportunity to further their professional development. This programme further underscores the Walkers Group commitment to education locally and investment in our staff, allowing us to excel in the markets in which we operate.”
Yvette Myles, co-owner of Innovative Management and Professional Training commented “Our mission is to facilitate quality, affordable and internationally recognised training opportunities for the Cayman Islands workforce and we are delighted to be working in partnership with Walkers to further this aim”.
