Witnesses sought

Police are appealing for witnesses after Crewe Road Mini Mart at 459 Crewe Road) was robbed Saturday night.

The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call at around 9.45pm from a man working in the store reporting that he just been robbed by a man carrying what appeared to be a small handgun.

Police responded to the scene and a thorough area search was carried out by officers from various departments including K9, Air Support, Uniform, Uniform Support Group and CID. Unfortunately, the offender was not located.

The victim told police he was alone in the store when the offender entered and demanded money. The victim says he handed over an undisclosed sum of cash and the man left on foot. No injuries were sustained during the incident.

The offender is described as five feet, seven inches tall, of medium, brown complexion with freckles on his face, wearing dark clothes with a black shirt partially covering his face

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the offence. Anyone who can assist officers should call George Town CID on 949-4222.
