Two major car accidents were reported within five hours of each other Saturday in the Cayman Islands’ Eastern districts.
The first crash was reported to 911 just before 4pm. A caller had spotted a vehicle turned over along Bodden Town Road near Breakers.
A 55-year-old woman inside the overturned vehicle was taken to George Town hospital and was expected to recover. She told police she had swerved on the road to avoid hitting a dog and lost control of the car which then flipped.
Another wreck happened just after 8.30pm at the junction of Frank Sound Road and Bodden Town Road. A 911 caller witnessed an argument happening at the accident scene there.
Police said a Honda Civic and a Ford Escort had collided, injuring the 59-year-old driver of the Escort.
The driver of the Civic was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to Bodden Town police station.
