Earth Day logo chosen

Breann Carle has won the National Trust Earth Week logo and T-shirt design competition.

‘We had a great response, every entry had several votes and it was a very close contest. Second place goes to Geordan Banks with Sunset Wave and third place goes to Ashley Soto with Healthy Protect,’ said Marnie Laing, education programmes manager for the National Trust.

The winning students are all from Esther Milligan’s Class at Triple C.

Year 10 to 12 students were invited to enter the competition to help design the Earth Week 2008 logo. Breann won for her entry ‘Advocate Healthy Ocean’s.

There were 18 entries submitted from Cayman Prep, Triple C and Cayman Brac High School.

The grand prize is a day-trip for two to Little Cayman with a National Trust guide. Breann and a friend will participate in activities such as kayaking and exploring and will be introduced to Little Cayman Rock Iguanas, Red-footed Boobies and other wildlife that makes Little Cayman unique. The prize for second place is a Mangrove Tour for two and third prize is a Guided Mastic Trail Tour for two.

A range of Earth Week activities will be offered throughout the month of April culminating in the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Earth Day 5K Fun-Run on Sunday, 27 April, at 7.30am.
