A George Town Primary School teacher has been suspended following his arrest last month on suspicion of possessing ganja.
Assistant Customs Collector Trevor Williams confirmed that customs officers were investigating an incident that occurred at Owen Roberts International Airport in April.
Mr. Williams said the suspect was taken into custody after officers found him carrying a small amount of ganja on his person inside the airport.
The man is not being named by the Caymanian Compass because he had not been formally charged as of press time.
Ministry of Education spokesperson Gina Matthews said the teacher was suspended by the Education Department shortly after his arrest. Ms Matthews said it is standard procedure for staff to receive half pay while an investigation proceeds.
