The Cayman Islands Football Association is inviting anyone interested to attend its groundbreaking ceremony for the new $10 million CIFA Centre of Excellence.
Special invitees are the Alden McLaughlin Minister of Education and Sports, Harold Taylor FIFA Development Officer CFU, Captain Horace Burrell President of Jamaica Football Federation and Executive Committee Member of CONCACAF.
The Cayman Islands Football Association Centre of Excellence is a National Training Centre, a long-term vision which will provide the Cayman Islands with state of the art football training and administrative facilities.
The project is going to be the foundation of the island’s intention to raise its performance to the next level in international football.
The centre is intended to become a flagship programme for small island nations to aspire to, as well as a respected centre for football excellence in the Caribbean.
There is also significant potential to expand into the lucrative sports tourism industry, with clubs from America and the Caribbean having expressed an interest in using the facilities.
The building work for the Centre of Excellence is due to begin this month, and as such CIFA has planned a ground-breaking ceremony on Wednesday June 11, at Poindexter Road, located next to Prospect Primary School at 4.00pm.
