Rabbi in Cayman for High Holy Days

The Jewish Community of the Cayman Islands has announced that Rabbi Richard Kirschen of Jerusalem’s Anita Saltz International Education Center will be visiting Cayman and leading High Holy Days services in celebration of the Jewish New Year.

Rabbi Kirschen will conduct the services at the Ritz-Carlton during the 10 day period between Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement and the most solemn day of the Jewish Year.

Rabbi Kirschen is the director of the Jerusalem-based Anita Saltz International Education Center which interweaves spiritual, intellectual and sensory experiences for a dynamic Jewish journey.

He was ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1996. Before making aliyah to Israel he served as a Hillel director for eight years. He was the executive director of the Hillel at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Prior to that, he was associate director of the University of Michigan Hillel in Ann Arbor, MI. Kirschen’s instructional area of expertise, ‘Like All the Nations? Understanding Public Culture, Sovereignty and Religion in the Jewish State.’ is a part of the wide-ranging curriculum being taught by the Saltz Education Center.

Rabbi Kirschen lives in Jerusalem with his wife Cara Saposnik a documentary filmmaker and their three children.
