Monday is the last day for early online registration discounts for anyone planning to participate in the Cayman Islands Marathon, Half-Marathon and four-person relay.
As of Tuesday the registration fees will increase and continue to increase until race day on Sunday, 7 December.
After Monday, the registration will still be economical at US$55, US$85 and US$180 for the half-marathon, full marathon and four-person relay respectively.
But registering before that will save full marathoners US$10 and half marathoners and relay teams US$5.
Race organisers are encouraging runners to log on to CaymanIslandsMarathon.com and register early to not only take advantage of the lower rates but also to solidify their commitment to the race.
‘Once you have registered you are more inclined to actually participate because you have committed financially,’ says Rhonda Kelly, Cayman Islands Marathon Race Director. ‘It also motivates you to get out there and start training. Some local runners tend to register at the last minute but we hope that these great early registration fees will be an incentive to sign on today!’
Kelly went on to say a number of local and overseas runners have already made their commitment to the race and the organizing team as always is looking at ways to enhance the overall event.
The Kids Fun Run, introduced last year and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, will take place again this year. The race is working with local gym Fitness Connection again to offer a training programme.
The next increase in registration fees will happen in November and all funds will go towards the race’s worthy charities: the CI Cadet Corps and the CI Cancer Society.
