A 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm after another woman was stabbed in the bathroom of a West Bay restaurant Friday night.
The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call at 11.20pm on 5 September from a member of the public reporting that a 37-year-old woman had been stabbed in the downstairs bathroom at the Cracked Conch/Macabuca complex. Police and medics responded and found that the victim had received a serious stab wound to her back.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains in serious but stable condition.
A party was being hosted in the upstairs part of the Cracked Conch at the time the stabbing occurred, but police said that function appeared to be unconnected to the incident. The seaside outdoor bar was also open at the time of the incident.
Anyone who was in the restaurant at the time of the incident who may have seen something important is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Winsome Prendergast on 916-5241 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
