One man is confirmed dead and two others are in serious conditions after a horrific vehicle smash on the Esterley Tibbetts highway at around 1pm today.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of a Black BMW 3-Series vehicle was either killed in the crash or died after fire engulfed his vehicle.
Two men travelling in the opposite direction in a flatbed truck managed to pull themselves from the vehicle as the flames grew higher, eyewitnesses said.
The crash, which occurred a few hundred feet north of the Butterfield Bank roundabout entrance to the highway, led to traffic chaos in the area, after police closed down the roadway.
Police are urging motorists to stay well clear of the road, which could remain closed for a number of hours as officers investigate the cause of the smash.
The two men that survived the crash were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.
