The course was intended for those living with, at risk for, or caring for someone living with diabetes and aimed to give them the knowledge necessary to successfully handle and control their condition.

HSA Medical Director, Dr. Greg Hoeksema, said: ‘As participants you have been impressive; from now on, your awareness of what diabetes is, and how to control it, will enable you to really control both your illness and your lives.’

The audience included: Ministry of Health and Human Services Chief Officer, Diane Montoya, Primary Health Director, Dr. Kiran Kumar, and General Practice Coordinator, Dr. Anna Matthews.

Dr. Orrett Thane was Master of Ceremonies.

The event included a keynote lecture by paediatrician Dr. Earl Robinson, and a musical rendition from family nurse practitioner, Abigail Parchment.

Mrs. Montoya also presented participants with their graduation certificates.

The Annual Diabetes program will be repeated based on demand.
