Kickball’s good causes

The Cayman Islands Humane Society and Sunset Women’s Football Club will be holding a kickball tournament in order to raise much needed club funding and to repair the CI Humane Society roof which has been deemed unsafe and in desperate need of replacement.

The event is on January 31 at the Field of Dreams.

A similar event last July by the same organizing committee raised nearly CI$6,000 for various charities.

Co-organiser Patrick Bourque said: ‘We relied heavily upon the generosity of the local business community to accumulate over $10,000 in prizes that were raffled and awarded. Drinks and food were also provided and contributed to the total funds raised.

‘This year our goal is to raise $CI10,000 for the two associations and we would like anyone interested to come forward.’

They are looking for a few major sponsors in order to get this event going. Gold sponsorship is $2,500, silver is $1,000 and bronze is $500. Prize worth at least $50 are also requested.

The cost of putting on the event field rental, advertising, drinks and food, prizes, staffing and various supplies.

The Sunset women’s football club has expenses like training facilities, uniforms and equipment.
