Burners take the plunge

A ‘burner’ swim meet, designed for any youngster interested in giving competitive swimming a try, will be held on Saturday at the Lions Aquatic Centre starting at 9am.

KPMG is again sponsoring and helping Stingray Swim Club work the meet. The age groups are 6&Under, 7+8 yrs, 9&10s. Anyone 11 and older competes in the ‘open’ group.

Open to all, not just those in the swim programme, burners are attractive to anyone wanting to test their skills and see for themselves what fun a swim meet can be.

Mostly one length events (25 metres), participants are welcome who enter just one event or all four strokes and a 100m metre individual medley.

‘We are appreciative of KPMG’s continued support and active participation,’ said meet director Sara Mackay.

‘The concept of these burners is terrific. Short and fun. After all the excitement of the Inter-Primary School Swim meet, we hope more kids will join the fun at the pool.’

Entry forms and more information are available at www.caymanswimming.com Entries should be turned into the Stingray shed at the Lions Pool by tomorrow.
