BT has talent

Last weekend saw youngsters show their track and field talents in Bodden Town.

A district track meet was put on in the area by the Cayman Islands Amateur Athletic Association.

The play field at Bodden Town Primary School was host to many track and field events Saturday morning from 9am.

A significant amount of kids came out to the meet and competed across some seven age groups.

Most of the kids were part of national track teams Hytek Tigers and Mustangs. But for many were simply home-grown talent straight out of Bodden Town.

The main events they took part in were the 60m, 80m, 100m, 150m, 300m, 600m and 1500m dash, long jump, shot putt, ball throw and javelin.

Among the big winners on the day for the girls were Anniekay Anderson [who won the girls 8-9 100m, 150m, and long jump] and Anissa Owen [who won the girls 17-19 300m and shot put].

For the boys Justyn Powell [8-9 100m, 150m, and long jump] and Taj Yen [6-7 80m, 100m, ball throw and 10-11 javelin] won multiple events.

Some of the big track names in attendance were Pearl Morgan, Avril Myers, Bodden Towner Jada Wright, Robert Ibeh, Stephon Johnson and Leandro Powell.

National Coach Kenrick Williams oversaw the entire event and was assisted by a number of CIAA officials including Elizabeth Ibeh.
