Customs Department employees trained

The Customs Department recently trained thirteen officers in a two-day local course on supervisory training, offered by Micro Matrix.

The course, Essential Skills for First Time Supervisors, provided each participant with the knowledge of how to adapt to a managerial or supervisory position and how to deal with the stresses and responsibilities of the new role.

Customs Training Manager Langlie Powery said: ‘Formal training is an integral part of our employees’ career development and we have seen real benefits including an increase in the traditional length of service in the Civil Service.’

Human Resources Manager Natasja Levy said: ‘We want to provide our staff with the necessary skills of a successful supervisor or manager and this course has provided the fundamental building blocks for them to succeed.’
