Young mother gains from self help

For seven years the New Self-Help Community Foundation has assisted many residents in getting back on their feet; this year shall be no different. The mandate remains the same but the magnitude maybe amplified due to the worldwide economic situation.

Earlier this month Tamarisk Peralta, a young Caymanian mother, visited Youth Empowerment Officer Mrs. Leasa Charlton of the Youth Services Unit.

They realized if Ms Peralta could sharpen her skills and enhance her employability the opportunities afforded to her in the Cayman Labour market would be far-reaching. They approached the New Self Help Community Foundation for assistance.

‘We hope that by recognizing the needs of our young people and helping them reach their full potential, more young persons in our society will achieve success,’ said foundation CEO JC Connor.’

Foundation sponsors and donors include HSBC Cayman Ltd, Dart Management, Island Companies and the Ministry of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports & Culture.
