It was the lone goal off the feet of Jessica Visser Scholars International women’s team that dismissed Future FC 1-0 from the CIFA FA Cup eliminations at the Annex last Saturday evening.
Scholars International will encounter Elite in the semis on a date and venue to be announced while defending champions Women United take on Sunset.
Visser placed put her team through in the 68th minute of the game after breaking through the midfield of the Future girls and hitting past keeper Crystal Barnes.
Future tried desperately to get even and go forward but this was not to be as the Scholars International defense line led by Shakeina Bush and assisted by the experienced Judy Rivers in goal would have none of that.
Chris Douglas national representative and assistant coach of the winning team was delighted and praised his team for their performance who are not doing very well in the league.
‘Honestly I feel proud of my team for braving the odds to come out with a win to reach the semis,’ Douglas said.
‘Everyone came to training leading up to this game and worked hard. They had indicated to me that they could not win the league again but they were going to try at the FA Cup.
‘They went into the game as the underdogs but were ready for the win and got it. We are not afraid of any team in the semis. This win is a stepping stone for our chance at the finals and we are ready to face any team.’
