Kevon Bazil produced the most incisive bowling display seen in the Cayman Islands in many years as the CLICO CAYMAN Division 1 League continued at both venues over the weekend.
Bazil’s figures were magical reading of 9 overs, 2 maidens, 11 runs and 7 wickets and this display bowled ESSO Tigers to a comprehensive victory over the youthful LIME Schools by 55 runs.
Technical director Theo Cuffy said: ‘That is the most impressive bowling display in the 13 years I’ve seen since I came on the island. He even had a hand in a run out so should take credit for eight wickets.’
ESSO Tigers players assembled very late for this encounter and were deducted two overs of the allotted 50.
Local umpires are tightening up in the tardiness of some teams and enforcing the CICA regulations. Batting first at the Smith Road Oval, ESSO Tigers struggled all the way to 132 runs with only Ryan Bovell 50 having an answer to the bowling changes made by LIME Schools captain Ricardo Roach. Omar Willis picked up 5 wickets for 18 runs and Marlon Bryan 3 for 36.
LIME Schools were in shock being reduced to 5 wickets for 37 runs. Darren Cato, 42, batted extremely well playing a lone hand until he was undermined by lack of experience losing his wicket to a behind the batsman move of the ESSO Tigers captain Bovell. But it was Kevon Bazil who had a brilliant day at the office!
Prison continued their march of victories defeating Police by 127 runs. It was another outstanding all round performance from Saheed Mohamed who followed up his century last week by scoring 45 runs and capturing 5 wickets. Other notable performances came from Troy David 44, Kevin Bazil 45 and Ladel Farguahason 57.
In the CLICO Cayman Division 2 League Greenies Too moved to the head of the table with victory against Pro Plus. Having scored 191 runs on good batting from Alex Porter 49 and Sam Dawson 33n.o, Greenies Too limited Pro Plus to 144 runs.
ESSO Cubs scored a 10 wickets victory against the LIONS at the Smith Road Oval. Limiting LIONS to 125 with Ricardo Roach taking 4 wickets, ESSO Cubs Troy Taylor 55 and Ramon Sealy 49n.o easily took the Cubs to victory
