Horses and dogs show off

International show jumping comes to Cayman this weekend.

On Saturday the third leg of the 2009 Caribbean Equestrian Association Junior Jumping Competition takes place at The Equestrian Centre (off Bobby Thompson Highway) !

Entry is free to the public and the day is guaranteed to provide an action-packed equestrian spectacular full of outstanding action starting at 7:30am.

The CEA Junior Jumping Competition should continue to around 11:30am

The event has the Cayman team facing stiff competition from Jamaica, Bermuda and Barbados – with riders competing in the 16 & under and 14 & under categories.

Each rider will compete over a course of jumps to gather points which will then be totalled towards the final accumulative score of each participating country.

The Cayman team have already competed in Barbados and have yet to travel to Trinidad and Jamaica for the final show jumping events of the season.

In addition to thrilling the crowds with top class show jumping – the fun continues into the afternoon with the second annual CIEF Dog Show !

With an ever popular display by the Customs K-9 Unit, the Dog Show starts at 11:30am with registration commencing at 10.30am.

Entry for each class is only $5 and with all proceeds supporting equine and animal welfare, all dog owners are encouraged to enter their dogs in as many fun filled classes such as ‘Cutest Puppy’, ‘Best Trick’ and ‘The Doggy Derby’.

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation thanked all its sponsors for their generous support: KPMG, Thorpe Alberga, Bodden and Bodden and Animal House.
