The Hedge Funds Care Cayman charity is gearing up to host the Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit at Grand Old House on Saturday, 14 November.

‘We encourage the local community to save the date and join us in supporting such a worthy cause. We look forward to building on the success we have achieved in previous years, raising close to US$1 million since its inception in 2005,’ said the chairman of the Cayman Committee of Hearts, Peter Cockhill.

Hedge Funds Care Cayman is an alliance of Cayman hedge fund industry professionals devoted to raising funds awarded to local organisations that focus on the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

A formal affair, the Old Havana Nights-themed gala will celebrate the glamorous pre-revolution Cuba. Highlights will include a champagne and cocktail reception, dinner and dancing, live entertainment by Vivendi, and a silent and live auction, featuring luxury automobiles, jewellery, art, getaway packages, and memorabilia.

Arch Automotive and Kirk Freeport are the two main sponsors.

To support the 2009 Hedge Funds Care fundraising event, people can purchase the US$1,000 tickets, sponsor an advertisement in the event programme, or donate auction items for the auctions.

Last November, the fourth benefit dinner raised US$300,000. The organisations that will benefit from this year’s event will be The Nadine Andreas Foster Home; the Ministry of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports and Culture; Children and Youth Services (CAYS) Foundation; and the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.
