Brazen burglar hits BT home

Royal Cayman Islands Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a frightening home invasion incident Monday in Bodden Town.

Detectives said a woman in a condo on Beach Bay road awoke Monday around 6.40am to find a man had entered her apartment and was holding a knife over her.

Police said the man asked the victim where her handbag was located. The victim told police the man eventually left after taking a digital camera and a nano iPod.

The victim was not physically hurt in the incident.

Police said it appeared the suspect entered the condo through a sliding glass door in the rear of the residence. Officers also indicated that the knife the man was holding had come from the resident’s kitchen.

The suspect was described as about 5’8′ with a dark complexion. He was wearing a baseball cap with a dark bandana with a white pattern on it to cover his face. The man was dressed in a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Investigators were asking anyone in the area around the time of the incident Monday to speak to Police Constable Bin Malcolm at 925-3076 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-8477. Police also advised that the red iPod is a rare model on island and anyone who comes across it is also asked to phone police.
