Constitution Commencement Day Friday

The Constitution Commencement Day ceremony will take place at the Legislative Assembly Friday beginning at 10.30am

The formal proceedings mark the commencement of the new Constitution and will include the swearing-in of the Premier, the Deputy Premier and the Deputy Governor.

Members of the public are asked to be seated at least 10 to 15 minutes prior.

The morning’s programme includes performances from the Cayman National Choir, the Harmony Singers, Rudy Myles who will sing ‘No Man is an Island’ and Jamessette Anglin (the National Song).

Other participants will be the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Band and the George Hicks Campus Band, as well as detachments from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, Fire Service, Her Majesty’s Prison Service, the Cadet Corps, the Girls Brigade, the Scouts, and the Gideon Pathfinders.

Refreshments will be served at the close of the event.

The commencement ceremony will be followed by an invitation-only luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton.

As the inaugural day of the 2009 Cayman Islands Constitution, Friday has been declared a public holiday for this year only.
