Camana Bay kicked off the festive season in grand style on Tuesday with its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The event, which took place at the Crescent in Camana Bay, featured entertainment provided by the Cayman National Choir and Orchestra, the Singrays, the Cayman International School Choir and the Cayman Prep School Choir. The entertainment set the scene for the evening with their renditions of Christmas classics, with the audience encouraged to sing along.
The crowds gathered from early on for the event. Master of ceremonies James Bebarfald warmed up the crowd for the eagerly-anticipated arrival of Santa Claus, who was ferried from his arrival on the roof of the Observation Tower to the stage in Camana Bay’s GEM electric car.
The honour of lighting the Christmas tree was given to Santa, who flicked the switch to wreath Camana Bay in festive splendour.
Children queued up to have their picture taken with Santa, while the adults browsed the stalls selling gifts, fine foods, as well as tickets to the Taste of Cayman festival, set to take place in January.
Festive events at Camana Bay will continue throughout the festive season, with Cayman jazz fest, the Parade of Lights, and Moonlight and Movies. For a full calendar of events, visit camanabay.com
