Dead diver named

Royal Cayman Islands Police have identified a woman who died 30 December following a diving trip on Grand Cayman.

She is Cindy Neilsen, 52, of Sandy, Utah in the US.

Police began an investigation into Mrs. Neilsen’s death last week.

About 3.55pm on 30 December, she became unwell and lost consciousness during an organised dive in the north side of Grand Cayman, police said.

The woman’s husband and staff from the operator, Resort Sports, undertook CPR and conveyed the woman to shore.

Mrs. Neilsen was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

She was a cruise ship passenger visiting the Islands with several members of her family.

This was the second diving death in Cayman in December. British-born US resident Martin Richard Linley, 51, died following a diving trip on the North Wall on 7 December.
