By Rite rises to top of standings

By Rite made their move up the
table over the weekend thanks to a decisive victory over Police. The win moved
By Rite to the top of the Division 1 table alongside Prison.

Two outstanding performances paved
the way for the By Rite victory. Omar Willis worked his magic with the bat,
while Garfield Edwards shone with the ball to help the team to a 26 run

Batting first, By Rite saw solid contributions
from Michael Wight, Conroy Wright and Kenute Tulloch, but it was the batting of
Omar Willis that captured the imagination of the spectators. Willis joined
Wight with By Rite in a bit of trouble and they combined well, running between
the wickets in a partnership worth 63 runs. Willis was not out on 56 when the By
Rite innings closed at 210 for 7 wickets.

In reply Police saw good
contributions from Abali Hoilett, Ryan Bovell and Pearson Best, but fell short
by 26 runs. Garfield Edwards’ five wickets haul ensured that By Rite continue
its winning ways.

Over at Smith Road Oval, Greenies 1
entered the 2010 winners’ row with a strong display over ESSO Tigers. Franklin
Hinds’ 68 and Josh Brown’s 51 formed the foundation in Greenies 1 getting to
194 for four wickets. However it was Michael Reid’s five wickets for 27 which
was the deciding factor. Devon Williams’ 36 and Anthony Higgins’ 33 not out
brought Esso Tigers within striking distance, but Greenies kept their cool and
won by six runs.

In Division 2 at the Smith Road
Oval, Paramount DTA was in a destructive mood, limiting Greenies Too to 138 and
knocking off the score in only 17 overs. Leading the way was Lawrence McIntosh
with 66 and Victor Campbell with 52 not out. At the Jimmy
Powell Oval UCCI/West Bay had a nail biting finish, defeating
Chillies in the last over by one wicket.
