Wolverines must tame Gators

Local youth flag football action
was in serious playoff mode last weekend at Camana Bay.

In the junior division of The
Security Centre Youth Flag Football League the top seeded and undefeated Burger
King Gators took down the fourth seeded SRS Steelers 26-6. The Steelers played
tough defence but the Gators were simply too much.

In the second game, the second
seeded Walkers Wolverines barely defeated the third seeded Maples Raiders 19-12.
The teams traded scoring drives towards the end with Walkers notching the
winner.

The Gators take on the Wolverines this
Saturday to determine the champion. In the consolation game the Raiders take on
the Steelers.

In middle division action the wild-card
playoff game saw the Dart Cayman Islands Dolphins upset the Cayman Islands Flag
Football Association Colts 24-6. The Dolphins came out firing on all cylinders
and that energy continued in its semi-final encounter with number one seed
Security Centre Packers.

The Packers appeared to have control
at the half with a 15-7 lead however the Dolphins defence stepped up to force three
interceptions. By game’s end the Dolphins would pull off another upset in
winning 33-15.

In the other semi-final the second
seed Al La Kebab Titans took down the third seed Broadhurst Buccaneers 33-28. A
rematch from last year’s championship, the Titans played tough and just
squeaked past the Bucs.

On Saturday the Dolphins will take
on the Titans to determine the junior champion. The Colts will play a consolation
match.

The senior division started their
round robin playoff with the Universal AC Ravens stunning the CIFFA Saints 33-8.
The Saints had been undefeated going into the playoffs however the Ravens played
like they were not intimidated.

The Saints redeemed themselves in
their next match with a 34-6 beat-down of the Auto Spa Giants. The Saints took
control of the game early and never looked back. The final game saw the Ravens
produce a come-back 33-12 win over the Giants.

All senior teams meet again this
Saturday with the best overall playoff record crowning the victor.

On May 8 there will be an end of
season party to celebrate the champions and thank all of the players, sponsors
and volunteers for participating. Details about the party will be released
shortly.
