Health screenings open to all

Residents of Bodden Town and
Savannah are invited to the Cayman Heart Fund district health screening on
Saturday, 8 May.

The free screenings will be held
from 8am to 11am at Savannah Primary School Hall.

Screenings will also be available for
children.

People who attend will have their
blood pressure taken, their body mass index or BMI checked, their blood glucose
and cholesterol screened and will be given educational literature and
nutritional advice.

Anyone taking the blood glucose and
cholesterol tests should fast for 10 hours prior to the screening.

Individuals can also avail of HbA1c
screening, which is now accepted as the gold standard in testing for diabetes
and identifying people at risk of becoming diabetic.

The screenings are a joint effort
between St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine, Cayman Heart Fund and the Cayman
Islands Diabetes Association

Breakfast will be provided.

  1. The importance of health screenings cannot be over stated. Actually, it could ultimately lead to saving lives.

I hope that the residents of Bodden Town and Savannah will definitely avail themselves of this splended opportunity to get free health screenings.

In addition to the free screenings, there will also be free breakfast. This is no better bargain in these tough economic times. Go for it, people!

Thanks to the Compass newspaper for the publicity and the joint effort between St. Matthews’s University School of Medicine, Cayman Heart Fund and the Cayman Islands Diabetes association.
