Leafs tangle surging Sharks

With May upon us the WestTel Youth
Roller Hockey League at Kings Sports Centre is really heating up on Saturdays.

In the Peewee age division the
Five-Continents Leafs have taken over the number one spot after their 7-5 victory
over former top seeded Appleby Sharks.

Jacob Whewell starred for the Leafs
along with forwards Chris Messer and Jagger Hope who added a series of points
to their totals.  Andrew Antonysraj was named Sharks player of the match
with his two points in the game.

The Hurleys Hawks have climbed out
of the basement after their 12-7 win over the Vampt Oilers due in large part to
Finn Walker’s seven point rally.  Jason Thomas was awarded the Hawks
Player of the Game while Oilers defenseman Aaron Hersant received the honours
with his four point day.

The highly competitive Atom
division saw the Eats Blazers dethrone the Animal House Penguins for the top
seed. Eats claimed a 4-3 win as Matthew Rowell of the Blazers and Jamie
Williams of the Penguins each earned Player of the Game honours.

KPMG stepped up big to defeat the
LOM Capitals 10-5 in their match-up.  Coach Kevin Lloyd of the Senators commented
“Our team finally came together after weeks of work and both Bryce and Marissa
Towell each had an awesome game.” Bryce was also named Player of the Game along
with Jacob Walters of the Capitals (who had four points).

The dms Bruins showed their
dominance over the Coldwell-Banker Rangers in a 6-3 victory that solidifies
their number one ranking.  Thomas Milne and Jabari Walrond were the
Bruins’ Players of the Game. Ben Somerville and Ethan Slocock were the top
players for the Rangers.

The Walkers Blue Iguanas have
become a force to be reckoned. On Saturday they defeated the XN Financial
Flames 9-4 to move within one point of the second ranked Rangers. William
Priaulx and Samantha Rowland were the stars for Walkers, with Priaulx nabbing
six points. Megan Thompson was the star for the Flames.

Fast approaching for most players
is the third Annual Inter-School Game tournament starring Cayman Prep, Cayman International
School, St. Ignatius and
Montessori by the Sea. All go into action on Friday, 21 May at 3:30pm.
