Kirk Home bomb scare

Kirk
Home Centre was evacuated late Tuesday afternoon in response to a bomb threat.

The
Cayman Islands Fire Services and police confirmed that there had been a report
of a bomb threat called in to an employee at the store on Eastern Avenue.

Staff
and customers evacuated the building following the threat. No one was hurt.

Evening
rush-hour traffic was snarled in the area as fire trucks and police cars
attended the scene and cleared pedestrians from the site.

Police
blocked off Eastern Avenue from the junction with Bodden Road to Godfrey Nixon
Way.

Eventually,
police investigators determined the threat had been a hoax. The entire incident
took three-and-a-half hours to resolve.
