No arrests were made following a more than an hour-long manhunt Tuesday in George Town’s Windsor Park neighbourhood.
Royal Cayman Islands Police officers were searching an area in George Town Tuesday afternoon by both land and air. Armed officers as well as police canine units were involved in the operation.
Several homes and properties in the Anthony Street area were searched. Initial reports indicated that officers were looking for two armed suspects, but a police spokesperson declined to confirm that.
The police patrol helicopter was spotted hovering over the Windsor Park neighbourhood, just south of downtown George Town, for at least an hour.
A police spokesperson said she could not disclose the nature of the operation, but added that there had been no incident which led to the search – such as a robbery or shooting. Rather, she said it was a planned operation that involved patrol units and the police Air Support Unit.
