The Ed Bush Field sees the return
of corporate football action on Thursday 22 July.
A pair of games in Cayman’s 21st
annual Corporate Football League get going at the West Bay sports facility. At
6pm Butterfield takes on Maples while PriceWaterhouseCoopers faces Cayman
National Bank at 7:30pm.
The matches mark week two of the
roughly eight-week league. After Thursday’s matches the next set of contests
are next Tuesday 27 July.
At 6pm First Caribbean
International Bank battles PWC with Fidelity Bank and Butterfield slugging it
out at 7:30pm. All league games are Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm and 7:30pm.
All eyes will be on CNB this year
as they are the defending champions.
Last year the side went undefeated
at 6-1-0 behind the likes of local talents Justin Pierre and Ian Lindo (both
are stars for George Town football club and the indoor football league) along
with Judy Rivers and Abijah Rivers. Pierre served as team captain that season
and helped the bankers dominate the field. CNB scored 21 goals (second-most in
the league) while surrendering just two goals all season.
Seven other teams will be gunning
for their crown in Butterfield, Dart, Fidelity, Maples, PWC, UBS and FCIB (who
were runners-up last year with a superb 6-1-0 record).
