Police investigate shots fired call at EE bar

Royal Cayman Islands Police responded to break up a fight involving more than two dozen people outside an East End bar early Saturday.

Officers were also looking into reports that gunshots had been fired at some point during the struggle.

No serious injuries were reported, although officers said that several participants in the fight suffered cuts and bruises.

Five people were taken into custody for questioning in relation to the fight.

Police said the fight broke out among about 30 people just after 1.30am Saturday. They did not say if the dispute was believed to be gang-related.

  1. And I guess the officers slow to responding where gun-less. Another proven example that we need more officers with guns, and that criminals are not scared to use theirs.

Until this Commissioner has a grand solution on reducing gun crime in this island, I as a homeowner will use my gun to protect myself and family!

  2. What I don’t understand with the RCIP, they only have one arm unit for the entire island! There should be a three man team, 1 unit for West Bay, 1 for George Town, 1 for the Brac and Little Cayman, and 1 for the Eastern districts of Grand Cayman.

Also, I would like to know that the Commissioner of Police is supporting locals with legal firearms, not speaking out against them. They need all the help they can now. The Police can not do everything on their own. To fight crime requires a community effort!
