Academy thanked their sponsors

Academy Sports Club recently had a
reception to thank the various local companies who played a significant role in
sponsoring the club’s successful participation in the 2010 Schwan’s USA Cup in
Minnesota last month.

Academy’s Under-11 team was
victorious in the USA Cup’s Weekend Championship and finished runners-up in the
Week Championship. The Under-12 team reached the second round in both the
Weekend Championship and the Week Championship.

At an informal ceremony at the
Academy SC Field, the club’s President Avolyn Tatum, expressed her sincere
thanks and appreciation to the representatives from the companies who were
present for their financial assistance and support of Academy’s youth-oriented
activities. The trip to the USA Cup was a fantastic experience for all the
players, coaches and parents and the Cayman Islands were well represented, she
said.

Sponsors receiving a beautifully
framed picture of the team included Michael Gibb, president of Kensington
Management Group, Joel Francis, senior policy officer from the Ministry of
Health, Environment, Sports, Youth and Culture, Ian Pairaudeau, director for
McAlpine Ltd, and Cherryl Moore, senior marketing manager for Maples and
Calder.

Tatum also offered her thanks and appreciation
on behalf of Academy SC to the other sponsors who made the trip to Minnesota
possible including Mourant, JNB Distributors, FabriZone Cleaning Systems, The
Water Authority of Cayman, Kirk Freeport, Cayman National, BPB&J Development
and CITCO. She also thanked the individuals who made personal financial
contributions, the large contingent of parents who accompanied their budding
stars on the trip, and everyone in the community who supported the various
fundraising activities.
