RCB tee up charity golf

One of the most popular charity
golf events is approaching.

The Royal Bank of Canada will
partner with the Cayman Islands Red Cross as the main sponsor of its 13th
Annual Charitable Golf tournament on 3 September. The event, which features a
four-man scramble format with a shotgun start, is at the North Sound Club with
tee-off times at 8am and 1pm.

“We are pleased to again have the
privilege of partnering with the Red Cross as the headline sponsor this annual
event,” said Jason Waters, vice-president of RBC in the Cayman Islands. “It is
promised to be a fabulous event, fun for all involved, while raising money for
a great cause.”

Funds collected through the event
go toward supporting the four main programme areas of the Cayman Islands Red
Cross:  Disaster management, First Aid
and CPR training, HIV and AIDS Education and the Thrift Shop.

“Each year, the Red Cross supports
hundreds of people across the Cayman Islands, and this fundraising tournament
is instrumental in allowing us to continue offering aid to those who
desperately need it,” said Peter Milburn, chairman of the Cayman Islands Red
Cross and organiser of the event. “We are extremely grateful for the support of
RBC Royal Bank of Canada and for all of our sponsors and volunteers.”

Other major sponsors include
Foster’s Food Fair, Progressive Distributors, GT Automotive, Car City, 24K-Mon
Jewellers, Big Daddy’s, Jacques Scott, Caybrew and Kirk Beverages. Sponsorship
opportunities still exist for individuals or organisations who wish to sponsor
a tee, a hole or an individual player. Individuals and teams can also sign up
to play in the golf tournament.

The event offers fabulous prizes,
including US$10,000 cash, a BMW, Honda or fishing boat, and gold coins. There
are also special prizes for the player who raises the most funds. All prizes
will be awarded at the ceremony and dinner that follows the golf tournament.

“We encourage all businesses and
community members to consider participating in this great event in some way,” said
Waters. “Let’s come together as a community to support the incredible work of
the Red Cross.” Donations to the Red Cross can also be made by going to the
organisations’ website. Cheques should be made payable to the Cayman Islands
Red Cross.

Sponsorship and entry forms are
available on the Cayman Islands Red Cross web site at www.redcross.org.ky or by
