Latinos face Patriots in finals

The men’s softball finals are set
now for best of five games this weekend.

They will commence at the
field  beside the Jimmy Powell Oval in
West Bay from 2pm on Sunday where two games will be played. The following weekend
the male and female teams go to Miami for the Nicaraguan International Softball
Tournament, so the finals will resume on Sunday 12 September.

On Sunday Latinos moved on to the
finals in the Cayman Islands Softball Association male league as Latinos, the defending
champions, cruised to a 11 – 6 victory over Jose’s Escape Pirates. Latinos
wasted no time as they scored eight runs in the first three innings whilst
their veteran pitcher Donald Watler kept Jose’s Escape batters quiet. The
closest Jose’s would get to Latinos was when the score was 8-6 in the fifth
inning. However, Latinos players were determined to win and scored three more
runs.

Sunday’s finals are now set and
will be a repeat of last year’s rivals as Latinos will now be facing A1 Rentals
Patriots. Organiser Marlon Thomas said; “The public is invited to come out and
enjoy some competitive games. Refreshments will be on sale.”
