Bodden Town job seekers had the
chance to brush up on their computer skills recently thanks to IAMCO.
The local charitable organization
recently sponsored a basic computer skills course for residents of Bodden Town
in partnership with Community Development Services. Participants were given a
maximum of 15 hours training in computer skills, ranging from typing practice
to the use of various Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
At the end of the course, participants received a completion certificate.
“One of IAMCO’s goals is the
provision of educational opportunities and we were quite happy to sponsor this
course,” said IAMCO’s WendyAnn George.
The classes were free of charge to
the participants and were taught by Donett Chung, a senior ICT teacher from the
George Hicks Campus.
An incentive of a new laptop
computer was offered to the participant with perfect attendance and this was
won by Pearl Parchment. More classes in math and English are in the pipeline.
