Leadership Cayman seeks applicants

Calls for applications are out for
the second Leadership Cayman programme.

The programme, launched by the
Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce in 2009, is designed to promote community
leadership through an in-depth introduction to social, economic, business and
political issues in the Cayman Islands. Participants get the opportunity to
interact with diverse community leaders and decision makers through a series of
seminars and retreats.

Over the course of the programme,
which lasts from January to June 2011, the 24 participants must attend an
opening retreat, nine of 11 seminars and participate in the class project.

The seminars generally take place
on Wednesday evenings, though the Sister Islands trip takes place over two
days.

The seminars will cover media,
criminal justice, education and workforce development, the Sister Islands,
small business and entrepreneurship, government, human services and health
care, financial services, stayover and cruise tourism, infrastructure and the
environment, and performing and cultural arts.

Anyone working or living in the
Cayman Islands and is at least 25 years of age by the application deadline of 5
November, 2010 may apply.

The application process takes the
form of a written application and a non-refundable fee of $79. Applicants are
selected on their own merit from a written application and interview, and will
be notified of their success in the third week of November.

The all-inclusive tuition is $1,950
for Chamber Members and $2,250 for non-members, and this year there will also
one scholarship available.

A series of 45-minute meetings for
the public will be held starting on Monday 18 October at the Chamber of Commerce
offices at Governor’s Square, West Bay Road.
